Obviously more playing is required to make sure and I will also put the original PS back in to test it as well and thereby using my new XPIN PS for another game. On Saturday I pulled the DMD out of my GnR and installed it and the game played with no loss of background sound after a few games. The DMD that came with the game was faded to one side so I swapped it out with one from my IJ and the game was fine for a week or 2 before the first loss of 5v issue arose so I had no idea it could be the DMD! But now I understand ( sort of ) of where the problem was. Initially I was certain the issue was with the sound board as the game didnt lose 5v with the sound board plugged in. Immediately obvious because I never considered the possibility." Mean that the display looked ok - but it was the wrong screen - which wasn't I have seen this once -īut as I said before - the DMD didn't always display properly. "The electronics work by having three CPU's (the Main one, the Sound and theĭisplay). I replaced all fuse holders on the flipper board but that didnt make a difference.Ī friend has advised the following info which could help people in the future. I will swap the MPU with my GnR ( when I have time to move several pins to get to it!) and see if that helps.Īnyone have this issue before or suggest anything?Īfter swapping my GnR MPU and swapping the game rom the game plays perfectly except once the flipper is activated a couple of times the backgroung sound disappears but feature sounds are still tehre with alot of dino "roaring'. I suspect the MPU has an issue somewhere and a chip is dragging the 5v down but now with the new PS it is only resetting the game. The feature sounds work and the trex roaring is too regular and when the ball drains the background music reappears until the next ball launch. Now the issue is that the game resets at least once a game and the background music disappears after ball launch. Played many games without soundboard power plug in and game worked perfectly, then I plugged in the Soundboard power plug and played several games ( approx 8 games over a couple of days) without issue. I bought an Xpin power supply ( Very nice board with led indicators of all voltages) Put that in. I noticed that the 5v disappears off the MPU ( no leds lit on MPU) No sign of issues.īorrowed another sound board, plugged it in but same issue appears again. After 20mins game will start up again but issue appears again after a couple of games.ĭiscovered that game works ok with sound board power plug removed. This game worked fine until one day the game locked up, scrambled display.
